An escape room is a live game: your team plays in a themed room and has 60 minutes to solve puzzles, combine clues and find the way out. It needs neither strength nor prior knowledge. Here is the process as it looks at Escape City in Zurich-Altstetten, from arrival to the drink afterwards.

1. Booking

Choose room, date and time online, pay, done. 2 to 6 players per room, CHF 99 to 210 per group. For events with apéro, meeting room or cake use the form on the event pages.

2. Arrival, 15 minutes before the start

You check in at reception, bags and jackets stay outside, phone in your pocket. Anyone who wants to grabs a drink for afterwards.

3. Briefing by the game master

Five minutes: the story of the room, the rules, what is not part of the game, and how you get hints. Say now if someone is nervous or has a question.

4. 60 minutes in the room

The door closes, the clock runs. You search, find, combine, open locks, discover new areas. The game master follows you via camera and microphone and gives hints when you ask or when they see you are stuck. You can leave the room at any time; the door is never really locked.

5. The end

If you make it, your time goes on the board. If you do not, the game master shows you the last steps. A photo in front of the wall is part of it.

6. The bar

The bar & lounge is next to the rooms: pinsa, drinks, around 100 seats, and the discussion about who missed the key.

The most important rules

  • No force against objects; nothing has to be broken open.
  • No bags, tools or torches in the room.
  • Do not photograph the puzzles, so the next group has fun too.
  • Hints are allowed and encouraged.
